City Wide Drainage Study

Drainage Study

In 2019, the City authorized the completion of a Citywide Drainage Modeling Study that evaluated and modeled existing conditions of the City's drainage system. The results indicated that the majority of the City has limited drainage capacity. The City is now taking action to improve the storm sewer system.

West Update 2/11/2022: Progress on this project continues to be delayed while staff continue reviewing alignment options produced by the model completed by Cobb-Fendley. Due to the technical information required to run the model, it requires the review of information in a series of steps from multiple project staff.  Review is anticipated to be completed by the end of February to prepare for the next City Council workshop in March/April 2022.

East Update 2/11/2022: The design contract for the Eastside Paving and Drainage Improvement Project was awarded by City Council to HDR Engineering Inc. on December 12, 2021. Following contract execution, an official “kick-off” meeting was held with project staff and HDR to discuss the next steps to move forward with the construction design for this project. This phase of the project will include completion of an environmental study, review of elements of potential traffic calming, construction design and estimated construction costs towards completing the 30% design plans for the project. There will be several public workshops scheduled with City Council, as well as public town hall meetings during identified intervals during the design phase. The first City Council Workshop to review potential traffic calming options is scheduled for March 28, 2022.
