2/16/2023: On Friday, February 17 all lanes across Buffalo Speedway will reopen. To mark the completion of the project, crews are beginning the final site restoration checklist which should be complete in April.

After nearly 5-years of planning, the project officially broke ground in April 2021. The project replaced the road surface and drainage of Buffalo Speedway beginning at the 5300 block (south of Bissonnet) and ending at the 6700 block (north of West Holcombe/Bellaire). The $32.2 Million project was estimated to take two and a half years to complete, and the city is happy to announce the project will be completed months ahead of schedule.
