Update at 2:35 p.m. - The West University Place Public Works Department will be collecting yard waste debris this weekend to assist residents who may have extra yard waste from last night's storm. Additionally, the street sweeper will run on Saturday and Sunday.
If your yard waste and recycling are normally collected on Monday/Thursday, your yard waste will be collected on Saturday, May 18.
If your yard waste and recycling are normally collected on Tuesday/Friday, your yard waste will be collected on Sunday, May 19.
Please take note of the following matters regarding vegetation debris collection:
- Limbs, tree trimmings, and hedges should be cut into 4’ ft. in length sections with the diameter of branches being 3” inches or less. Larger branches may require additional assessment.
- Any individual item or collection of vegetation material larger than approximately 3 cubic yards (about the size/space of a washer and dryer side-by-side), may require additional assessment by City crews and may not be collected the same day.
- Do not place collection material in the street or near curb gutters.
- Do not mix household trash or any other type of non-vegetative debris with yard waste material.
- Leaves, grass clippings, small tree and hedge clippings should be bagged (paper or compostable plastic bags per yard waste collection requirements)

5/17/2024 at 9:33 a.m. - The City of West University Place services and facilities are operating per its normal schedule. This includes Friday’s trash, recycling, and yard waste collection. Limbs and debris from last night’s storm may not be collected today. City crews are diligently working to assess damage and collect as much as they can.
