Beginning on Monday, July 7, the City's contractor, Queens Constructors, will begin replacing sections of sidewalk throughout various areas of West U. During the first phase, crews will work in areas one and four, identified on the map below. Residents directly affected by this work will receive a letter from the City. This project is expected to be completed in the fall. Inclement weather could delay work activities. For more information, please visit www.westutx.gov/sidewalks.
We ask that residents make sure that the easement and roadway are clear of any personal items or vehicles during the repair process. This will help to ensure the safety of the workers and allow them to complete the repairs as efficiently as possible.
This project is a collaborative effort between the City of West University Place and METRO to improve the condition of the sidewalks to connect the community to public transit and amenities. The city received a $400,000 grant to complete these improvements. Additionally, this project reinforces the city's ongoing effort to ensure all West U sidewalks are safe and accessible.
