Upon contact with the driver, the officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver and passenger were detained while a probable cause search was conducted which led to the discovery of marijuana and an open container of alcohol. The driver was issued citations for No Driver’s License, Open Container, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both the driver and passenger were released. |
10/16/2025 08:36 PM | 25-0580 | Driving While License Invalid | An officer initiated a traffic stop in the 3700 block of Bissonnet in reference to a vehicle with expired registration. Upon contact, it was discovered that the driver possessed an expired driver’s license. The passenger notified the officer that the vehicle belonged to an acquaintance, was only able to provide an identification card and was not able to provide any financial responsibility. Due to the nature of the required documents to operate a vehicle, the vehicle was towed off scene and the passenger was released. The driver Darius Solomon-Broussard was charged with Driving While License Invalid taken into custody without incident and transported to the WUPD jail.

10/17/2025 08:44 AM | 25-0581 | Fraud | An officer was dispatched to the police station to speak with a victim of fraud. Upon arrival, it was discovered the victim paid an invoice for a service they received. The invoice came from whom they thought was a representative from the business but it was found that an unknown suspect sent a fraudulent email disguising themselves as the representative accepting the payment for service. |

An unknown vehicle struck the victim’s unattended vehicle and left the scene without providing the information required by law. |
10/18/2025 10:41 AM | 25-0583 | Identity Theft | An officer was dispatched to the police station in reference to an identity theft incident that already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown suspect used the victim’s personal information to open an account without consent. |
