The City of West University Place has continued to work with the Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) on their Poor Farm Ditch Reconstruction project that will rehabilitate the channel’s failing concrete lining between Bellaire Boulevard and University Boulevard.
Since the last public meeting, the city has continued to meet with the HCFCD regularly to discuss the project and potential impacts to West U. In instances where adjacent property will be affected, the city will be reaching out to those individual property owners over the coming month to discuss the specific impacts to their properties.
At the upcoming December 8 City Council meeting, city staff will provide an update on this project, which will include planned improvements to the ditch, pre- and post-construction conditions of HCFCD’s right-of-way, additional fencing for access control, replacement of the University Boulevard pedestrian bridge, and HCFCD’s plans for bidding and construction phasing.
In the coming months, the HCFCD will host a public meeting to share the final design details and inform residents of the next steps on this project through construction. The city will share more information about this meeting once it is confirmed.
Although this project is managed by the HCFCD, the city remains committed to providing West U residents with updates about this project as they become available.
