Pursuit

An Officer observed a vehicle run a red light at the intersection of West Holcombe and Buffalo Speedway. A traffic stop was initiated in the 3100 block of Holcombe for the violation. The officer attempted to make contact with the driver, but the vehicle fled the scene and a pursuit was initiated. The suspect’s vehicle came to a stop in the 3100 block of Holcombe and the driver was taken into custody without incident. The driver (Samuel Johnson-Awosanya) was charged with evading in a motor vehicle and unlawful carrying of a firearm. The suspect was transported to the West University Jail and was later charged with Assault on a Peace Officer.

The driver has a previous criminal history of:

Identity Theft
An officer was dispatched to the 2600 block of Talbott in reference to an identity theft that had already occurred.  Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown suspect gained access to the victim’s identity and used their personal information to open a loan without consent.

Pursuit
An officer observed a vehicle traveling in the 6700 block of Weslayan with a defective break light. A check of the vehicle registration revealed the vehicle was stolen. A high risk traffic stop was attempted at which point the two occupants fled from the vehicle on foot. A search of the surrounding area led to the arrest of two juvenile suspects. The driver was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Evading, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. The passenger was charged with Evading.

An officer was dispatched to the 2700 block of Bissonnet in reference to Found Property. Upon arrival, the officer took custody of the item for safe keeping.

An officer was dispatched to the 3800 block of University for a theft of a motor vehicle that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown person(s) took the victims vehicle without consent.

An officer was performing a traffic stop in the 4100 block of Case. During the traffic stop, it was discovered the suspect was in possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

An officer was dispatched to the 2700 block of Barbara Lane in reference to an identity theft that had already occurred.  Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown suspect gained access to the victim’s identity and used their personal information to file taxes without consent.

An officer was dispatched to the 6300 block of Mercer in regards to a complaint of a possible Fraud that already occurred. Upon arrival, the victim stated they believed they may have been scammed by a suspect raising money for a fictitious charitable organization.

An officer was dispatched to the 6000 block of Fordham in reference to a fraud that already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered a suspect adjusted a check amount and fraudulently cashed it under a different name without consent.

Drug Paraphernalia
An officer was performing a traffic stop in the 4400 block of Bissonnet. During the traffic stop, it was discovered the suspect was in possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Public Intoxication
An officer conducted a welfare check on a vehicle that was parked in the moving lane of traffic in the 5600 block of Kirby. During observation of the vehicle it was noticed that the occupants of the vehicle were asleep, but when awoken they appeared to be intoxicated. The occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody for public intoxication.

An officer was dispatched to the 5300 block of Buffalo Speedway in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle that already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown suspect entered an unsecured vehicle and removed items without consent.
