An officer was called into the West University Place Department Lobby in reference to an identity theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown suspect gained access to the victim’s identity and used their personal information to open a financial account without consent.

Unlawful Carrying a Weapon
|An officer observed a vehicle with an obscured registration traveling in the 4200 block of Bissonnet. A traffic stop was conducted in the 4300 block of Bissonnet. During the traffic stop the officer discovered the driver was in possession of narcotics, drug paraphernalia and firearms. While the officers were conducting the investigation, the passenger refused to comply with officer’s orders and assaulted an officer. The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful carrying of a weapon. The passenger was arrested for assault on a police officer. |
|22-0373||Theft ||An officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department Lobby for the theft of a motor vehicle part that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown person(s) stole a catalytic converter from underneath the victim’s vehicle without consent.|
Loud Noise Disturbance
|An officer was dispatched to the 3900 block of Oberlin in reference to a loud noise complaint. Upon arrival, officers located a large gathering at a residence and discovered the occupants to be minors with the presence of alcoholic beverages. The gathering was dispersed, several individuals were issued citations for minor in possession of alcohol and then released from the scene.|
|22-0376||Virtual Gate Hit|
An officer overheard the Bellaire Police Department broadcast a stolen vehicle hit on a license plate reader camera located in the 5400 block of Bellaire. West University PD officers then located the vehicle traveling in the 4300 block of Bellaire and conducted a high risk traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver was detained without incident and after speaking to the owner of the vehicle, confirmed to be the suspect believed to have stolen the vehicle. The complainant did not wish to pursue criminal charges against the suspect so the suspect was released and vehicle was recovered.

An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 4000 block of Ruskin St. for No Registration. During the investigation a field sobriety test was administered and the operator was placed in custody for a DWI. A subsequent search of the driver revealed a small amount of a controlled substance. Charges were filled for Possession of a controlled substance and Driving while intoxicated.
Burglary of a Business

An officer was dispatched to the 6100 block of Kirby, in regards to Burglary, which had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown person entered their opened attached garage and stole an item without consent.
|22-0381||DWI||An officer observed a vehicle in the 4200 block of Bissonnet going over the speed limit. During the investigation a field sobriety test was administered and the operator was placed in custody for DWI.|
|22-0383||Drug Paraphernalia||An officer observed a vehicle in the 5800 block of Weslayan. During further investigation, it was discovered the suspect was in possession of Drug Paraphernalia.|
|22-0384||Virtual Gate Hit ||An officer was dispatched to the area of the 5000 block Weslayan in regards to a stolen vehicle “HIT” from an Automated License Plate Reader. The officers later located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in the 4200 block of Bellaire. The stolen vehicle failed to yield and a short pursuit ensued. The vehicle came to a stop in the 6700 block of Avenue B when all the occupants exited the stolen vehicle and evaded on foot. Officers were able to apprehend two suspects out of four without incident. The two suspects were charged with Evading on Foot.|
|22-0385||BMV ||An officer was dispatched to the 2800 block of Bissonnet for a BMV that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the unknown suspects took the victims items from their vehicle without consent.|
|22-0386||Warrant Arrest||An Officer observed a vehicle traveling in the 6400 block of Weslayan at a high rate of speed and with a defective head light. A traffic stop was conducted in the 6700 block of Weslayan. After further investigation, it was discovered the driver had several open felony warrants out for their arrest and the passenger to have several open warrants out of the West University Place Police Department. The driver and passenger were placed in custody without incident.|
