Driving While License Invalid

An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 6400 block of Buffalo Speedway. Upon contact with the driver and through investigation, it was discovered the driver was operating a vehicle on a suspended license and failed to maintain financial responsibility. The driver, Jonerica Whiting, was arrested and charged with driving while license invalid. The driver has a previous criminal history of terroristic threats.

DWI 2nd Offense 

An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 5900 block of Buffalo Speedway. Upon contact with the driver, the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from or about the vehicle. The driver showed signs of intoxication and a field sobriety test was conducted.  The driver, Mario Orta-Arellano, was arrested and charged with DWI 2nd Offense.

Burglary of a Residence with Intent to Commit Assault 

An officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in reference to a burglary of a residence that just occurred in the 5500 block of Community Dr. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown suspect entered an unsecured residence, assaulted the victim, took items without consent, and fled the scene.

Virtual Gate Hit

Officers responded to the 5300 block of Rutgers in reference to a virtual gate hit involving a wanted subject. An officer located the vehicle, and a traffic stop was conducted in the 5300 block of Buffalo Speedway. The driver had multiple active municipal warrants with the West University Place Police Department. The driver was arrested for the warrants.

Eluding 

An officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the 6000 block of Edloe and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver, however, began to accelerate at a high speed, disregarded stop signs, and drove erratically. Eventually, the vehicle came to a stop and a high-risk traffic stop was conducted. The driver, Victoria Pruitt, was arrested and charged with eluding. The driver has no previous criminal history.

An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 6700 block of Buffalo Speedway. Upon contact with the driver, the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from or about the vehicle. The driver showed signs of intoxication and a field sobriety test was administered.  The driver, Jorge Acosta, was arrested and charged with DWI. The driver has a previous criminal history of assault-bodily injury.

Criminal Trespass 

First Responders were dispatched to the 3100 block of Bissonnet in reference to a grass fire. A witness advised an unknown suspect had intentionally started a grass fire and fled when sirens were heard. The witness provided a detailed description of the suspect and the direction of travel. Officers located the suspect, Joaquin Faz, in the area. The suspect admitted to starting the fire and was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing.

An officer was dispatched to the 4000 block of Bellaire in reference to a theft that just occurred.  Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown suspect had taken an item for a business without consent.

Tampering with Governmental Records

An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 3800 block of University Blvd. Upon contact with the driver and through investigation, it was discovered the vehicle displayed a fictitious temporary tag. The driver admitted to purchasing the fictitious tag and placing it on the vehicle. The driver, Lizcano Rosales, was arrested and charged with tampering with governmental records. The driver has no previous criminal history.

DWI 

An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 5800 block of Buffalo Speedway. Upon contact with the driver, the officer could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from or about the vehicle. The driver showed signs of intoxication and a field sobriety test was administered. Halfway through the test, the driver refused to comply with the instructions.  A blood warrant was obtained and executed on the driver. The driver, Bryon House, was arrested and charged with DWI. The driver has no previous criminal history.

An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 6700 block of Westchester. Upon contact with the driver and through investigation, it was discovered the driver was operating a vehicle on a suspended license and failed to maintain financial responsibility. The driver, Jacon Sampson, was arrested and charged with driving while license invalid. The driver has no previous criminal history.

BMV/Evading 

Officers were dispatched to the 6500 block of Mercer in reference to suspicious individuals pulling on various vehicle doors in the vicinity. Upon arrival, the officer observed three suspects actively burglarizing a vehicle. The three suspects fled the scene on foot leaving all stolen items behind. A police perimeter was set, and a search for the suspects ensued. The suspects were not located. An investigation into the identity of the suspects is ongoing.

An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 3200 block of Bellefontaine. Upon contact with the driver, the officer detected an odor of marijuana emanating from or about the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted which led to the discovery of drug paraphilia.

Officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Bellaire in reference to a virtual gate hit involving a wanted person. An officer located the vehicle, and a traffic stop was conducted. Upon contact with the driver and through investigation, it was discovered the driver had multiple active municipal warrants with the West University Place Police Department. The driver was arrested for the warrants.

An officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in reference to a minor accident that already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown operator of a vehicle collided with the victim’s parked vehicle and fled the scene without stopping to provide the required information.
