Clay is a Partner at Baker Botts LLP. Prior to Baker Botts, Clay spent four years as an energy investment professional at Millennial Energy Partners, before that serving as its General Counsel, having practiced corporate law at Bracewell LLP and Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP. Clay has served on the boards of the Houston Center for Literacy, Shelters to Shutters – Houston and the West University Place Zoning Board of Adjustment. He is the founder of HSC National Golf Club, a golf matchplay society with members in 13 states, and plays out of Westwood Golf Club in Houston and Nairn Golf Club in Nairn, Scotland.
Clay was born in El Paso, Texas, and grew up in Beavercreek, Ohio, attending Archbishop Carroll High School. Clay and his mother Bernice Brett have endowed the Brett Family Scholarship at Archbishop Carroll to promote the Catholic tradition of service in education. He is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he was a member of Florida Blue Key and received the William Rion Most Outstanding Graduate Award, and Vanderbilt Law School.
Clay and his wife, Lindsay, have lived in West U since 2016 and have two children.
