To sign up for Direct Link monitoring service:
1) Contact an alarm technician to connect your system to Direct Link. Technicians outside of the approved vendors list MUST contact the Direct Link Coordinator prior to service.

2) Click the Sign up for Direct Link button below and complete the application. Completion of this application is required to finalize set up and begin monitoring
3) A confirmation email will be sent once the activation process is completed by the Direct Link Coordinator. An alarm permit is generated with activation.
Non Direct Link Alarms:
To comply with City Ordinance (Chapter 26- Electricity and Alarm Systems Sec. 26-189) residents and business owners are REQUIRED to have an alarm permit on file for all active alarms.

2) A confirmation email will be sent once the activation process is completed by the Direct Link Coordinator.

These fees are for a 12-month period starting on January 1.
What causes false alarms?
A large majority of alarm calls are user error. This doesn't mean you do not understand how to use your alarm, but circumstances happened to cause the false alarm. False alarm activations of your system could result from:
- Air conditioner or heater coming on and quickly changing the temperature;
- Ceiling fan running in the area of a motion sensor;
- Open, unlocked or loose fitting doors (theses could be opened and resealed after alarm activation);
- Drafts that move large leaf or runner plants, chandeliers and curtains;
- Pets in an environment not properly set up for animals (motion sensors with pet immunity are available);
- Helium filled balloons and party decertations;
- Cleaning services not familiar with the system operation;
- Children playing with alarm controls;
- Activations of your alarm system and not having a valid code or password;
- Forgetting to notify your alarm company of contact number changes and important user information
How can you help prevent false alarms?
- Make sure everyone using your security system understands how it works. Anyone who has a key to your home should know how to operate your system and the passcode;
- Know how to cancel your alarm if the system activates accidently.;
- Notify your alarm company immediately if you think your system isn't working properly;
- Know how to bypass areas in need of repair;
- Have your alarm company check and service your system regularly. Routine maintenance can help prevent false alarms.
- Remove any insects or foreign materials away from motion seniors (also check behind);
- If you do not understand features of your system, contact your alarm company
If you accidentally trip your alarm, call your alarm monitoring service immediately. The emergency personnel en route will be notified and the call will not be considered a false alarm. However, once emergency personnel arrive at your home, it is considered a false alarm. Residents and businesses are allowed 3 "free" false alarms during a calendar year and will be billed at the applicable rate thereafter. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to notify the Dispatch Center false alarms
