WUPCA2 TransparentThe City of West University Place is offering residents an opportunity to see, firsthand, how their city operates. This unique experience will give residents a closer look at day-to-day City operations, including how services are provided, and what it takes to run a city of approximately 15,000 people. The West University Place Citizens Academy (WUPCA) is a 7-week program that will begin on Thursday, September 16.

Your participation includes: hands-on activities, tours, presentations, light refreshments, and much more! Participation is free and will be limited to the first 10 registrants. Registration will become available on August 2.

Eligibility: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be a West U Resident
  • Must be committed for 7-weeks 

Registration:

  • Registration is open to the first 10-participants 
  • Registration opens Monday, August 2 at 9 a.m.

Course Schedule:
All classes begin at 6 p.m. and end by 8 p.m.
** Class will begin at 6 p.m. and end by 7:30 p.m. 

  • Thursday, September 16 - City Administration/Finance Department 
  • Thursday, September 23 - Public Works Department
  • Thursday, September 30 - Parks and Recreation Department
  • Thursday, October 7 -  Police Department
  • Thursday, October 14 - Fire Department
  • **Thursday, October 21 - Course Debrief
  • Monday, October 25 - Graduation Ceremony at City Council Meeting
