Overview
The City’s Wakeforest Water Plant was constructed in 1991 and is located on a 0.393-Acre Tract in the City of Houston city limits at the southwest corner of Westpark Drive and Wakeforest Street. The plant consists of the following:
- 1 Groundwater Well (1,675 Gallons Per Minute (GPM))
- Pump Room 2 Booster Pumps (3,000 GPM)
- 2 Ground Storage Tanks (500K Gallons)
- 1 Elevated Storage Tank (500K Gallons)
- City of Houston Surface Water Connection (1,500 GPM)
Based on results of the completed studies, this facility lacks sufficient room to upgrade the pump capacity in the existing pump room without taking the pump station offline and impacting water service delivery to all residents.
Scope of Work
The proposed scope of work is to complete construction design for the following work to improve pressure and flow throughout the system and be able to support future water service demand:
- Construct a new booster pump building on this site
- Increase booster pump capacity from 3,000 to 4,000 GPM
- Install two booster pumps with the ability to add a third booster when needed
- Replat the property through the City of Houston approval process
- Determine emergency backup power needs for this water plant
This project is located within the City of Houston and will be required to meet City of Houston standards for improvements on the project site, including providing stormwater detention as required. The project will require a Plat and will be permitted through City of Houston’s code enforcement.
